Voluntary repossesion form sent back

My wife recently sent a voluntary repossesion form back to Bristol & West with the bit about being liable for any interest accrued after the sale ( She did this because in theory they could wait for six years of interest to build up before coming after her for the debt) They have now sent it back saying they they cannot accept it with bits crossed out. Advice / Help Please
