All My Trials Lord

is an excerpt, and possibly the title of a poem used in several songs. The text varies a bit and I am trying to find the original, a date and an author.

The portion in question is: if religion were a thing that money could buy --or-- if livin' were a thing that money could buy then the rich would live, and the poor would die all my trials Lord soon be over
