In 1995 after 5 years struggling with a £30,000 mortgage, I sent the keys back to my lender (Birmingham Midshires, since taken over by the Halifax I believe). I have rented property under various names since then, always moving when letters start to arrive asking for shortfall payments. Since 1999 I have heard nothing at all and have stayed at the same address. My concern is now that me and my partner are looking at buying a property as we are both earning a decent salary. Should I approach my past lender and offer a lump sum or wait to see what my new lender will say? Any advice will be gratefully received.(posted 8446 days ago)Jason
