what happens now?

My husband bought a place with his ex-girlfriend which was repossed in 1996 he has had no contact with them since then untill this year. They sent a letter to him requesting he settle some of the money and if not he would have to pay it all. Whether it be good or bad we ignored all their letters in the hope that it may go away(as you do) the letters have stopped but last week i had a visit from someone looking for my husband who would'nt identify themselves but i knew it was to do with this debt. what will they do next? will they keep coming around?
