Delta 400 Pro purple base?

Anyone knows if is corect to get purple neg base when
Ilford DELTA 400 Pro is fixed for 12 min using Normal
Fixer?
I cut a piece of a leader and fixed it for 12 min
and the purple apearance still there. Doesn't
change.
It is normal?
Using graded papers like Ilford MG IV should I get more
constrasting pictures?
Any ideas?
