Whiles Huw's answer has some merit, he is oversimplifying things. There is no best film for anything. As with most things in life, any film is the result of compromises. Agfa 25 is great stuff for shooting landscapes with your camera mounted on a tripod, but it would be useless at a high school football game. T-Max 100 is also a great landscape film. Ilford HP 5 Plus is a good general purpose film and especially good for action shots, it pushes extremely well, and I've pulled it to 200 ASA with excellent results.(posted 9376 days ago)If you're looking for the best film you won't like the true answer. You'll have to try some and decide for yourself. Me? I've settled on T-Max 100 in medium format for my landscape shots. Why? Because all my favorite photos came from my T-Max negatives. The best advice is for you to get 10 or 12 rolls of Ilford, Kodak or Agfa film, shoot them, then decide what you like. Each emulsion has advantages and disadvantages. As you gain experience you'll learn how to use the fimls you choose.
