Response to Infra red ISO?

from Gene Crumpler (nikonguy@worldnet.att.net)
The best advice for a new Kodak HIE shooter is to use the recommended exposures (with a 25A filter) that come with the film. Then develop in your favorite soup using the recommended time/temp for Plus-X. Unlike conventional films, dense negatives can be printed for great effects. I've found that a TTL meter is not always accurate with this film because of the meter's response in the red-infrared region.

Also, Laura White's book on IR is probably one of the best available. She mostly uses Kodak HIE, but does present Konica 750 information.

Kodak has discontinued HIE in 4x5 sheet film. A real shame since a found this out a week after I bought a sheet film camera primarly to get big, less grainey HIE negatives.
