Response to Purple Negative

from Terry Carraway (TCarraway@compuserve.com)
If you looked at back threads you will see that this has been covered many times.

The purple tint has nothing to do with fixing. Although Tmax films are harder on fixer than other films.

To make the tint go away, either wash a long time, or use a hypo clearing agent of some form (Kodak HCA, Heico PermaWash, sodium sulfite in water) as part of the wash process.

Also the tint will go away over time. It is part of the antihalation or sensitizing dye set.

BTW there is some evidence that only rapid fixers should be used with modern films.
