Developing a C 41 color print film with B/W cemicals

I found an old KodaColor print roll in an old camera I had purchased and just wanted to develope it to see the frame outlines if any. I included it in a small tank with a roll of Iford Pan F using Xtol 1:1 at 9 min . The color roll had very faint outlines of some images but mostly a dull brownish blank. Sure , I could have sent at to a C41 processor but this was just a whim to see what would happen in my own darkroom. Has any one had better luck and what chemicals were used ? Russ
