I'll look through some of my formularies from the 40's and 50's. I
know there are some formulas that use p-phenylenediamine. I have no
way to tell if any of them are close to Harvey's 777, but they might
be interesting to experiment with anyway. We should pull Ted Kaufman
into this thread, since he is a serious experimenter with home-made
formulas.
