Response to Neopan 1600 and Ilfosol-s

Exposure and development are linked; so how you develop depends a lot on how you exposed. I love Neopan 1600, but I set my meter to 800 when I shoot it. One classic test is to shoot a roll with a sequence of exposures using different speed ratings, which you repeat three times. Then you clip the film into thirds, and develop 10% less time, recommended time, and 10% longer. Then you have a much better idea of the film speed in your camera, and the development time with your water and thermometer. Ifosol-s is a great general developer. I love Deta 100 in Ilfosol. It's really Ilford's answer to Xtol.
