Response to Rodinal and sodium ascorbate

I was really excited about using this combo, but I have not managed to get it to work well either. I seem to be getting chemical fog and larger grain. I've seen this on Tri-X and Delta 400. Sounds like other folks who know alot more than I do have better results so I'm anxious to hear. I'm wondering if the combination is extremely sensitive to water (I use tap water that has very low mineral content).
