Loading Infrared into processing tank

How do I go about doing this? I tried it with my first roll of Infrared, and the infrared roll just flew straight down instead of getting all curled up while I was loading it. Also, loading it into a plastic Patterson(esp?) tank was annoying....The film kept getting caught and crumpled while I was in the dark. When I finished developing, a few frames of the film had bend marks on it. Please Help! (I am new to the world of B&W Infrared!)
