About the Lakes Area 2000 Forum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Lakes Area 2000 : Policy

First, clicking the "Publisher" link at the top of the main screen will take you back to the Lakes Area 2000 home page at any time.

Secondly, feel completely free to comment on or add to any of the "Selected News" (or other things), you find here. To do that, open the "thread" by clicking its link on the "New Questions" list, and then click button at the bottom of the page that says "Contribute an answer." That will bring up a screen in which you can enter and submit your comment. Think of it as an "online letter to the editor," or a way of adding your thoughts to what you'll find here. (And by the way, you can type them in a word processing or email program and copy and paste them into the text entry box.)

There is also an online forum set up for general year 2000 discussion and communications. It's just like this one, with the exception that you can intiate "threads" (start a discussion topic, ask a question, insert a reference, etc.). That forum is reached by clicking the "Forum" link on the Lakes Area 2000 home page. Please feel totally free there too. Click on and read the brief "Welcome... How to use this forum" thread to see a couple examples of how other people in other places are using this same forum software to communicate. It's great software!

CAUTION: Please doublecheck your email address when entering a comment. To receive automatic updates of new postings, you can "add an alert" right now by clicking here, by clicking on the link below that says, "request to be notified," or by clicking on the "add an alert" link in the lower part of the main forum screen. This is a very powerful feature of this system you may want to take advantage of.

Also notice that you can set the rate at which updates are emailed to you: instant, daily, or once or twice a week, and that you can turn them off or back on by clicking the "add an alert" link at any time, and using the "Edit previous alert" section.

If you'd like to contribute a story or announcenment to this section please send it to billdale@lakesnet.net

And once again: You can also post news, information, announcements, ask and answer questions, start a topic of of conversation, etc., in the Lakes Area Forum linked off the home page. Just click it's link there, or click here, and read the "About" section there.

How this System Works

This bboard software was written by Philip Greenspun and hosted for free by him started in 1995. Anyone could come in and create a forum and moderate the discussion. Most of the thousands of forums on this server were and are publicly searchable by Google and other Web indices.
