OK... now that the actual results are in... I will now make my say on things for this first tourney.(posted 9216 days ago)First, I should begin with the thank yous.
First thank you I think should go to Zwaxy - if he didn't let us do this tournament, we wouldn't have a tournament... or a second tournament for that matter.
Second thank you goes to Pat Laffaye, our Judging Coordinator... he went through a lot of work, including judging FOUR games, more than any other judge; I think he deserves a ton of credit.
Next I'd like to thank the judges themselves... yes... Pat gets two thank yous, I'd also like to thank Donut and Chris Parsley as well for taking such a difficult task.
Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who submitted even one recording this tournament, if you didn't play, we wouldn't be having a tournament.
And now... I'd like to discuss a couple of Twin Galaxies World Record issues... all of these are in regards to MAME world records, not the actual arcade machines.
2020 Super Baseball - True, we did play using the money feature, but I think this deserves recognition just as much as perhaps a player minus computer ratio. In the money case, Cicca's mark of $119,800 would be the standard. In the player minus computer case, PJS, with 37(42 - 5 I think) would set the standard.
Discs of Tron - If the settings we used are actually TG settings(and I hope they are), the first world record holder would be Brian McLean with 115,600.
Gyruss - Can you say BeeJay? Big time! 5,200,000 more than DOUBLES AND A HALF the previous world record that was set by James Wilson(2,062,600)... and I'm positive we used TG settings.
Lock N' Chase - These TG Settings I got from the TG website - therefore, I'm sure JoustGod's mark of 65,240 is the first MAME world record.
Congratulations to all! For completeness, I will also recognize the other game's winners - seeing that they also deserve credit.
BombJack - BeeJay - 1,119,320
* Combat School - Stig Remnes - 378,170
* Mr. Do's Wild Ride - Skito - 113,351
Galaga(fast shoot) - BeeJay - 6,293,810
* Money Puzzle Exchanger - Donut - 63... wow... was that a sight to see myself!
* Pang 3(panic mode) - Renzo Vignola - 2,172,100
Us Vs. Them - BeeJay - 260,125
* ZZYZZYXX - Phil Lamat - 1,019,270
* - we used default settings... I don't know if they are TG settings, and therefore possible world records, as well.
I'd also like to congratulate BeeJay and JoustGod personally for taking victory in our first tournament!
Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the first tournament, and I hope to see everyone again in the second tournament!
