Response to Chromium intensifier for black and white negatives

from Doremus Scudder (ScudderLandreth@compuserve.com)
I quit using chromium intensifiers some years ago because intensifying with selenium toner is so much easier. Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner mixed 1:2 for around five minutes (to completion) gives an approximate N+1 intensification. This is a proportional intensification, i.e. the low values (shadows) are relatively unaffected and the highest values (highlights in the print) get the most intensification. Just the ticket for flat negs with adequate shadow detail. I even use this proceedure in place of or in conjuntion with N+ development to get more contrast while keeping the graininess down. Good luck ;^D)
