I did the same thing, picked up a nice Yashica D to try medium format.(posted 8688 days ago)The biggest thing is to develop a routine. Since film winding and shutter cocking are two different actions, it is easy to advance a blank frame, or double expose a frame.
The routine I use is to always advance the film immediately after releasing the shutter.
Also tape or glue the X - M lever to X. Moving the self timer with the flash sync in M can lock the shutter. Plus unless you have a source of flash bulbs, you will not be using the M position anyway.
