Agree with the posts above. It probably sounds better to say, "I
pushed my Tri-X to E.I. 3200!", than "I underexposed my film by 3
stops and lost all the shadow detail and most of the midtones too".
There are times when it helps, but you have to understand the
tradeoff and be willing to pay the price.
