Dental Plan I.U.E.C.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

I would like to know why if I have 100% coverage on my dental with a $2500. limit why I can't spend it the way I want. Why is it the plan say's my dentist is above the resonable cost last I checked I was an Elevator man . How can I check prices every time I go to the Dentist. Take time from work ? If they gave me a Dentist to go to then I could see the reason if I chose not to go to it. I feel this plan is nickel and dimeing us to death yet are UNION can't help me sorry kid find a cheaper dentist. Yet if a company said I paided to much for my uniforms and only gave me 50% for them we would shut the company down. If the plan only covers 50% just tell us. Funny IUEC made the non union scumbag dental plan. Any one with same problem feel free to post your latest ripoff.

You may have missed a significant bit of plan wording: it says 100% of "just and reasonable" .The of just and reasonable part is the big item... experience in our local indicates that having the dentist send in the pre-detirmination will end the mystery of " how come I still have to pay more" The pre-D box is on the top of the dental form. Note: I am not sticking up for the Health Plan. I just do a lot of work for #9 members on problem medical and dental claims...so have a little idea of what works

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE SAME THING!.OUR LOCAL RECENTLY (IN THE PAST YEAR) ADDED AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO OUR WEEKLY DUES TO "BRING OUR PLAN UP TO DATE" WITH THE CURRENT PRICES.HOWEVER THIS STILL ONLY COVERS ABOUT 80% OF THE BILL WHEN A 100% IS SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED.THE GENTELMAN WHO MENTIONS THE IDEA OF GETTING YOUR DENTAL WORK ESTIMATED BY YOUR DENTIST AHEAD OF TIME MUST HAVE A LOT OF TIME ON HIS HANDS, AND NEVER HAVE HAD DENTAL PAIN.GREAT JOB-POOR HEALTH PLAN

Dental Plan

On two occasions I have had dental problems and have gone to the Dr. One time was with a broken tooth I said how much and got a figure of $900 I ended up with a bill of $1300 the plan covered $1000 so I had an uexpected $300 charge. I called Travelers and was told that had I done a little shopping it would have cost about $700. 2nd time different dentist Our benefit has increased to $2500 I can finally get some cosmetic work done on 5 front teeth the guy says if I do them all at once $500 a tooth so I get a bill for $3000 and I am unhappy. The problem here is that if you don't pay they will and have ruined my credit. It is time perhaps to have dental examiners who can list what needs to be done and the plan could send bid forms to qualified dentists in your area. I also think the laws governing credit reporting should be changed to strenghten the ability of the consumer to protest charges on thier credit reports. The system as it now stands is very cumbersom to deal with and usually does not yeald any satisfaction to it's victums.

Having worked with this issue several times while trying to help local #9 members with problems like the ones that appear here, I can only make one suggestion that I've found workable... Have the dental provider check the box that indicates estimate BEFORE doing the work; this can be done after a checkup reveals work that needs to be done.... at least you'll know how much coverage is there BEFORE the work is started. I'm not all that fond of the deal either, but this does help !
