James Cameron cameo

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

I know that James Cameron appears in a cameo as the man being checked for lice as Rose and Cal prepare to board the ship. I thought I saw this same character later in the film (after the ship hits the iceberg) when Rose and Jack are running for safety somewhere on one of the lower levels. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

I think so. I did saw a man who looked like him. But there was a lot of people and confusion. I'm almost positive that th man was him.

Yes, that was James Cameron. My sister was looking on some page that gave the ENTIRE cast list (right down to the guy who poored the champagne). It said that the man getting his beard checked for lice WAS James Cameron. :)

According to the IMDb movie database; the actor having his beard combed for lice was Francisco Valdez, which I agree with, having seen the movie three times. James Cameron, did a breif cameo in the steerage dance scene, and I swear by the almighty; he was the drunk who fell on the floor and was proped up and given another beer.

I saw the same thing you did Laura, the ENTIRE cast list and James Cameron is listed as "man getting beard checked for lice" I also paid close attention when I went back, and YES, it is him.

yes- the man getting his beard combed was James Cameron- you can also see him in the backround of the scene where Jack and Fabrizio are running to find their room in the beginning. But the drunken man who falls in the streerage scene is NOT him.

Watch the Fox special, they specifically show Cameron's cameo in the steerage scene. He WAS the man being lifted and given another drink, and the IMDb database is correct unless Cameron put himself in the "lice cleaning" part just before the shot was filmed.

It seems appropriate that Cameron had to put himself on the Titanic. I would be curious if he was also one of the floaters. Has Cameron ever appeared in cameos in his other movies?

According to Tina Kerr, who hired all the extras for "Titanic," James Cameron did not appear in any cameos in the movie. Tina has posted several messages about some of the above-mentioned JC cameo possibilities in the Countdown 2 Titanic message board. Use the search option and type "Tina Kerr" in the author field. Check out her message dated 2/15/98. That might clear up this whole issue.
