I would like to know the timespan a business operated under the name of Levinson and Newman operated. I know it was in business during the 19th century, but I would like to get more specific information. Thanks

If I were you, I'd start looking through the San francisco city directories. I know the Calif State Library in Sacramento has them on microfiche and microfilm, starting about 1852, I believe. You should be able to get it through interlibrary loan.

I found a Newman and Levinson catalog at a flea market several years ago. I bought it because of its nostalgic theme. I doubt if many of these catalogs still exist in this condition. It is in very nice condition and it is dated 1905-6. This is a Fall and winter catalog. It advertises misc. womens/mens clothing and clothing accesories. It also has cloth supplies, linens, draperies, and jewelry from that era. If you are interested in purchasing this item, please contct me. Hope this helps....
