Don't bother to e-mail David E. for it, Jesper.
No such speech exists. Pope John Paul II is well aware of the great efforts made by the Catholic Church (including the Pope, Pius XII) to save Jews during World War II.

John paul II could hardly have said such a thing when there are commendations on file at the Vatican, received from Jewish leaders after the war, praising Pius XII for his heroic efforts on behalf of the Jewish people. Even the New York Times called him the sole beacon of truth in a world of darkness (that's a close paraphrase - I don't recall the exact wording). Pius XII is personally credited with initiating a variety of directives which resulted in the saving of at least 800,000 Jewish lives, while keeping a low profile, thereby avoiding nazi rataliations against both Jews and Catholics. The efforts of the Pope included housing several hundred Jews within the vatican itself; ordering monasteries and convents to hide Jews; and a program of counterfeit baptismal certificates to allow Jews to pass as Christians. No-one doubted that Pius was the champion of the Jewish people until a third-rate off-Broadway play called "The Deputy" was released, a few years after his death. This fictitious and false account suggested complicity between the Pope and the Nazis, and of course a great many people, hungry for anything that could be used against the Catholic Church, latched onto this misinformation and treated it as fact.

my god,but you are all misguided fools. you all seem to be intelligent enough, but most of you adopt the catholic faith? how is this possible? *sigh. so much of the bible contradicts itself over and over that surely the catholic church hasnt a leg to stand on?

Poor Maddy
No trace of grace in Maddy--

Maddy's on the Internet for fun & entertainment. Here she (he?) might find grace. She'll need to stay close, not worry yet about yes or no; there's time where there's good will. If she wants the truth about Church and Holocaust, this is the place to get it.

Dear Maddy

the bible may be confusing/ complex/ intricate/ etc; but it is most certainly not contradictory. maybe you have some problems with understanding it -- and if so, this is the place to be. if you're not just sounding off, let's hear it.

but if you are just merrily passing on some hearsay without thinking too much about it, then you might wish to start thinking long and hard --- about the eternity that awaits you in a place that is evil beyond any human comprehension.

any fool can type "sigh". there, just did it. so show us the substance, maddy.
