Embedded Controls testing tools.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

I have been bringing myself up to date on the issue of embedded controls. As an ex computer engineer (hardware) I comprehend the impact possibilites surrounding embedded controls. My major concern, as with many others, is the availability of tools to test with. While there those of us who can look through logic diagrams and schematics to determine if the year function will have an impact, this is a very tedious and time consuming effort. In the recent fortune article "Industry Wakes Up to the Year 2000 Menace" I read of a possible solution to this problem of finding a testing tool for embedded systems. (Sounds promising). It can be obtained from "TAVA Technologies" as either a service or end user tool (from what I can gather from the article).

My question: Does anyone out there have any experience(s) with this company and/or product and if so can you provide any feed back?

Thanks in advance and good bug hunting.

Michael, For what it's worth, I have seen "TAVA Technologies" around for some time now but I have not heard either way if their product or service is good or bad. Sorry

Tava Toolset

Best way of finding out about Tava, is to contact the companies doing business with them. Coke, GM, Bristol Myers Squibb, maybe some of the folks there would be willing to share with you their perspective on Tava?

Michael, you might want to check out this post by Rick Cowles, Y2K Utility Program Manager for DEC Corp. He reviewed the TAVA CD and was favorably impressed. Includes link to TAVA on-line demo. http://www.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/reply-3350390 Also, see Jim Lynch's comments. http://www.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/reply-3416666

Though it wasn't mentioned specifically in the article, TAVA is also doing Y2K work for GM, who's problems were discussed extensively in the Fortune article.
