According to the Highlands County News (Sebring,Fl.) a CB&Q Zephyr train made a stop on Mar.26,1935. Does anyone have any information about this train being on the SAL?

Joe, I have a copy of Form 19 that brought Motor 9901 out of SAV in April 35. Wait Order put it into stations along EC to CHS. I was in school and missed the whole show. 73, Don C.

The tour evidently included Raleigh. An acquaintance then attending Louisburg College went to Franklinton, N.C. to watch the Zephyr pass.

Joe: The Georgia Historical Society located at 501 Whitaker Street in Savannah Georgia has photographs (~3 photos) of the Pioneer Zypher under the Savannah Union Station train shed. I assume it came into town via the SAL since it was in the SAL photo folder. The photographs are located in the Cordray Foltz Collection-MS1360-Box 28. B&W 5"X7" photos are $15 each. I'll be working in the Savannah Ga area the next couple of months and will try to get the negative numbers for you. You can then order them via the telephone and credit card or send a letter and check. Buddy Hill

My guess would be that this train set would have been the Pioneer Zephyr #9900 on the train's tour before being entering service. The Pioneer Zephyr is on display at the Science and Industry Musume in Chicago Illinois. The train set is back on display after an extensive refubishing at Milwaukee WI.
