To add to some comments on the use of 1.4V hearing aid batteries:

It is not necessary to use the metal washers from discarded Wien cells to make these batteries fit the 625-size battery compartments. You can get a black circular gasket at any hardware store that slips over the 675-size battery for a perfect fit.
