Year 2000 Overview - Gary Alan Halonen

INTRODUCTION TO THIS REPORT

This report provides a starting point for the consideration of techniques for all organizations - be they governments, financial institutions, public utilities, manufacturers, small business people, community organizations, churches, individuals - to help allay public fears and possible panic caused by Y2K induced "mission critical" computer system failures.

Harlan Smith's "Synergistic Mitigation and Contingency Preparation" proposal

"The underlying concept of this proposal is to focus mitigation resources on an 'Austere Infrastructure' that would be sufficient to minimally support our populations and provide a robust repair base for those elements of our infrastructure that fail as a result of the calendar 'rollover' to 2000-01-01. This concept acknowledges the fact that a full remediation effort is perceived to require more expenditure of effort than can reasonably be accomplished in the 593 total working and non-working days, prior to 2000-01-01."

Harlan Smith's enlightened infrastructure solutions contribution. Make key people aware of this report. Email them the URL - http://www.scotsystems.com/harlany2k.html - or print it out and mail or hand it to them.

"My philosophy has been to always go to the top if you can. Get the people in charge, concerned and motivated to get the tough questions answered. We may be disappointed with what we find out but at least we know where we stand. I've since sent Harlan Smith's "Synergistic Mitigation And Contingency Preparedness" to that Y2K project manager along with one to the Premier of Ontario and every Canadian member of Parliament. I'd like them to be reading the same Plan when the time for serious contingency planning comes front and center." - Gary Allan Halonen

Most candles are made with a carcinogenic toxic substance: paraffin. Paraffin is the left over residue from gasoline refining. Candleworks offers a clean-burning, 100% natural solution: Long burning candles made from soybean oil grown in America's Heartland. Each candle burns 60 hours $44 for one dozen (shipping is included in price): one dozen provides 720 hours of emergency light. Greetings, friends.

The Aprotech Rocket Stove that so many folks have heard about over the last few years now has a web site. Check it out at:

Aprotech

This is a very special stove, developed by the Aprovecho Research Center in Cottage Grove, Oregon, specifically for use in developing nations whose fuel resources need to be highly conserved. It's proved to be the ideal camping/back yard stove if you're not packing it around.

Coyote has improved the original design considerably, increasing the draft and therefore the efficiency of the stove. I highly recommend this stove - you can boil a pot of water with a small handful of twigs, and it's almost smokeless because the stove burns the fuel so completely.

Best,

Cynthia at Red Barn
