Free Falling

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic Pages Forum : One Thread

When I was 20, I girded my loins and took a big swallow, and shook the dust of my family's town off my feet, and with very little money and no prospects other than a hopeful plan of spending a year in New York living on my own before entering the Poor Clares, I moved from Nevada to New York. I didn't know what God had in store for me, or what He wanted from me, only that I needed to be in New York, and away from my family. I was free falling - completely trusting that wherever God lead me I was supposed to be, and that I'd be given what I need. Two weeks later, I met my Capuchin cousin and his best friend, Pat, who just happened to be surrounded by white light...and I knew then that I would marry him, and he knew it too. We've been together since that day (19 years ago). Free falling. It's scary but exhilirating at the same time. Can you remember a time in your life when you just said yes, and let go of everything you were holding on to in order to free fall, to just move with Christ? I'd love to read some of your stories! {Pax} Dana

Great idea Dana. I guess you could say I took a fabulous leap of faith ( rather than a free fall!) when I decided to quit my useless bank job and put myself into poverty by entering graduate seminary school. It took four years and $20,000 in debt but it was the most fabulous expereince of my life. I grew ever closer to God in ways I simply could not fathom. I expereinced great pain and great joy, none of which I regret in the least.
