Hand-pump water filters

We're thinking of buying a hand-pumped water filter. Anyone have any recommendations about which one is best? I'm leaning towards Katadyn at present.

You are leaning the right way, expensive but worth it, will last far longer and costs far less per gallon than any other filter.

I'm thinking of buying a PUR. Anyone had any experience with different brands? They all look like a pain, but if they're reliable they're worth it.

I work at Home Depot, they have a whole house water filter system for under $30.00. It's made by OMNI model number U25-BP ,it has 4 filters and the hardware to connect it,to copper pipes or use 3/4 in PVC fittings if nessesary. the filters are for rust/sediment and odor and clorine, but you can set these up as a dual filter system using the white filter first and then the charcoal filter second... But if you purchase two systems, then you can set up any filter of AMTECK,or ones that have a 3/4 opening at the top of the filter...remember to get a threaded nipple between the two filter cannisters to accomplish a better filtering of the water you want to drink... I have purchased two of these whole house filter systems for my new home... By the way "Tell'm Furie from # 245 store sent you "... Hope this helps all of you looking for clean drinking water, good luck in the coming months. Furie Tampa, Fla.

Thanks for the link Gayla, seems even a smart-a** like me can still learn a few things.

Katadyn all the way. They undoubtably make the best water filters in the world. Their pocket filter can pump 13,000 gal of fresh water.

Check out katadyn.net.
