reliable pharmacies on the net

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have read in a previous thread about being able to order meds over the internet -- Then I saw a nightly news story about unreliable meds from some paramacies on the internet (did you see it also ??)

Has anyone had experience with ordering meds on the internet?? Could you recommend one/some reliable sites ???

Thanks -- don't know what i would do with out all your advice !!

I wouldn't trust any mail order pharmacies on the net or otherwise unless you researched thier background. Prescription medication are potent stuff, and within the U.S. alone, generic brands vary widely in their purities/quality compared to their well known brand-name (this is why the doctor must sign "generic substitute permited" on thier prescription slip if they think this perticular drug is safe to get a generic brand on.

I would talk to my doctor and try to get him/her to prescribe a Y2K supply. My insurance, Blue Cross Personal Choice, offers prescription by mail with Medco and I can get 3 months' supply on prescriptions. I can order 2 weeks before my prescription runs out, so what I've been doing is take advantage of that, stocking up the extra 2 weeks. In 5 months i have an extra month's supply for y2k. I haven't talked to my doctor for a Y2k supply yet, but I plan to soon (hopefully she'll have heard more about it from the media ect.)
