battlefield information versus weapon technology

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Department of the Navy Knowledge Management : One Thread

Alot of money and even more attention has been focussed on getting information to the units on the battlefield. Is there or has been any studies that have addressed the following: (1) how much information is too much - where does information hinder units on the battlefield making them indecisive. (2) when is a "better gun" more effective than a "better computer" on the battlefield. To clarify, does every soldier do better with a small personal computer telling them where they are and where the best guess of the enemy is or do they do better with a superior gun? thankyou for your time and response in advance.
