TRACKING SCRIPT SOLVED!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : S-Mart Shopping Cart : One Thread

If figured why the tracking script was returning blank pages, and not working. It seems that the path to the the .html files is also the path the order dir & the tracking & product .db files. For some odd reason this path is coded into the script while the tmp dir, while the tmp dir (where the carts are kept before processing) is coded to the cgi-bin (or wherever your cgi paths is designated). So you have a cart going, and see the cart in the tmp dir, see the directory designation in the cfg file and everthing look cool, until you submit you order and it never makes it into the order dir! and because the script dosnt puke when it dosnt find the non exsistsnt order dir you pull your hair out and cry like a baby.

If this sound scattered its because i was up all night tyring to figure it out! I discovered it when I went to manually edit my products and they wernt there! Humm..... they had to be somewhere cause i was editing them in the admin script ....... search and you will find.

This should make many people very happy ...... I know I am!

That's about as clear as mud.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your idea with the discussion group. It is people sharing ideas like this that get results.

I wanted to take a moment to say that John's response (cgiguru@nimail.com) was very rude and ungrateful. This forumn is for exchanging ideas and people helping one another out of the kind- ness of their hearts. If someone doesn't understand something all they need to do is ask. But being negative saying "that's about as clear as mud" not only lacks manners but is just plain rude. If you don't understand just ask. Being ungrateful will get you no where.

Just my thoughts...

No matter the hurt feelings. Clear as mud is at least accurate.

This TRACKING SCRIPT SOLVED thing is pissing me off.. and that response up there by Wally is so retarded. Sounds to me like a MIS response. I mean, really, come on.. I oughta spam Email yer ass just for putting up such a stupid response.

Some of these responses crack me up. I understood what the excited thread starter was saying, but it was a little moshed, though that was also explained. Keep them coming from both sides cuz the reading is better than a fine novel. My thanks to all of you.
