Air Controllers: Can You Confirm or Deny?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This article in the Chicago Tribune appeared on the www.year2000.com/y2karticles.html page in the October 29 listing.

Are there any air controllers that can confirm or deny the story?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I am not an air-traffic controller but here is a posting from another board about a local TV news article out of the Seattle area. I personally cannot confirm or deny but just pass it on.

Best regards,

Tonight on the local TV (Seattle area) news, word of an air traffic control "Radar blackout" over parts of Western US, by the looks of it on the news it may have involved parts of Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, maybe other states as well. Acccording to the news report the controllers "lost" about 200 aircraft. In view of the recent and definitely Y2K related ATC problems in the Chicago area I suggest it might be a good idea to watch carefully to see if this problem had the same cause, recently "upgraded" ATC software. Keep an eye out for this one.
