I just found an interesting site. Its called The Stevens Register and the url is www.sy2k.com/index.y2k They have a list of companies that are 2000 compliant or states when they will be. Also check out their hot links section for a mega list of y2k links.

Thanks Donna. Peter de Jager is apparently compiling a similar list. Not a lengthy list, even with the qualifier "expect to be compliant soon". Doesn't every corporation seem to be saying they "expect to be compliant soon"?

Why wouldn't a company register itself as such? It would, after all, give investors confidence, and drive up their stock, wouldn't it?

The list that needs to be made is companies that have been independently audited and certified as compliant. Without some sort of checks and balances, claims of compliance are just that: claims.

I'm not saying companies aren't compliant or nearing compliance. But what are investors and the general public supposed to believe? De Jager hit it on the head:

"There are no industry statistics on completed vs. delayed Y2K projects... There is a basic lack of data from which statistics might possibly be created. The corporate world, spurred on by well- intentioned lawyers, is co-operating in a convergence, not a conspiracy, of silence."
