Well... The report was pretty much as I expected, they had a guy on called Jon Neuman (sp?) who apparently is an advisor to Clinton on Y2K issues, I was surprised that he actually recommended that everyone takes out one months salary (just in case) - let's see - that's say +-$1.5k? times, what 100 million working American people = BANK RUNS!!! Oh yeah, another pearl, "the stock market will have glitches, but these will be fixed - easy" - yeah right, what stock market in 4Q99?? Just how, exactly are these "glitches" that haven't even surfaced yet and are therefore largely unquantifyable going to be "fixed - easy"? AND - valuable advice on setting your VCR's to 1972 - everythings gonna be ok... thinks - yeah let's set the power grid to 1972 too - end of problem...

Sheesh!

Andy,

It's a start (Their reporting last night was way too alarmist). Sent them an e-mail:

Dear KRON TV, Channel 4, San Francisco, California:

Much better job reporting on Y2K tonight. You're not being alarmist, yet hard-hitting enough to say there will be problems and glitches, then offering "Survival Tips" to the general public. You guys get a good solid "B" on your reporting tonight. Now could you also start an area on your http://www.kron.com/ web-site listing a collection of Y2K survival tips, etc. as you report them? Not just a a downloaded video, but as readable text?

I, as one voice out here, would love to see you also focus on ways in which whole communities can begin "coming together" and creating contingency plans and calmly preparing. When that happens, you'll earn an "A," in my book.

Thank you for doing a much better job of reporting on Y2K this evening!

Diane

I watched the reports here on line and was pleased to be able to see how they were covering it. I used their feedback box to encourage them to continue with their reports. (Figure they won't know that I'm not local!) AND I will be watching - online!
