existing roundhouses

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am editor of a new website called Railway Preservation News, found at www.rypn.org.

Can anyone in your organization tell me if any ACL or SAL roundhouses still exist? If any do. we'd like to report on their current status, history, and possibilties for use as railway museums. Both old and recent photos would be helpful, plus as many details as you could provide.

Thanks,

Bob Yarger, Editor Railway Preservation News www.rypn.org

Do not know of any roundhouse structures, however, you might be interesed to know there is old SAL turntable still in operation in Raleigh, NC. CSX utilizes the turntable since there is no wye available to turn engines and cars around.
