Nikon 900s broken in shipping

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have just ordered the third Nikon 900s camera and I hope this one will not be broken. It appears the swivel breaks in shipping. Calling Nikon resolved nothing. 30 days to get a new camera back. This is very poor service and the women was cocky. The camera takes very good pix and would be a shame to go to somthing else, but does not look cool with a rubberband around the thing to hold the pices together.

I ordered a Nikon Coolpix 900s from CDW and it arrived with a broken swivel. The two parts of the camera were misaligned and it didn't click into place. Since I had used one before I knew something was wrong and had it replaced. I'm not sure it was broken in shipping; I think it's bad quality control before it was shipped.

Usually if you get a product damaged out of the box by the USPS/UPS/ Fedex/Airborne gorillas, the best route to resolution is back through the dealer who sold it - A reputable dealer will generally exchange out of their own stock, and deal with the mfr for you. The rock-bottom discount outfits are more likely to take a hands-off approach though. If the dealer shipping you this stuff doesn't learn from their mistakes about proper packing (especially after two other failures), shame on them!

I PURCHASED A COOLPIX 900S FROM A LOCAL PHOTO FRANCHISE AND IT HAD A BROKEN ZOOM BUTTON RITE OUT OF THE BOX.THE PHOTO QUALITY IS UNMATCHED IN A CAMERA OF THIS PRICE BUT $800 IS A LOT OF LOOT TO SPEND ON A CAMERA THAT MIGHT BE BROKEN AFTER THEIR LIMITED YEAR WARRANTEE IS OVER.(GOOD IMAGE QUALITY, BAD WORKMANSHIP)
