Who Is Publishing Our News -- Knight Ridder Empire

Just trying to see who is who in the newspaper publishing industry, and share the info. Ive noticed that a great Y2K news story will print in any outlying area, and not make it into the big city press. Look below to see if a newspaper you know well is owned by this publishing empire. -- Diane

Knight Ridder is the nation's second-largest newspaper publisher, with products in print and online. The company publishes 31 daily newspapers in 28 U.S. markets, with a readership of 9.0 million daily and 12.6 million Sunday, and maintains 34 associated Web sites under the name Knight Ridder Real Cities. [Note: Had to re-arrange the web-site extracted info to make sense out of it, and now need to test each web-site link they say works. Could use some help with that. Also have the Newspaper list organized alphabetically. If you want that list too, please e-mail me a request at sacredspaces@yahoo.com -- Diane]

Thanks Tom,

I'll work on those web-site links this weekend. Think I'm coming down with the flu so I'll be spending a bit less time online in the next couple days. (Unless I'm just too restless). Bummer.

Thanks for the info Diane. Philadelphia Inquirer is most read newspaper in Philly I assume, always side by side with USA Today as most commonly seen on street corners. I know all my neighbors get it.

So then, the Y2k buck stops at Knight Ridder and Gannett huh?
