ITRON - latest???

There was a thread some time ago about ITRON not being compliant. Does any one have any updates on that? Or is it going to be the responsibility of each company to make sure that their ITRONs are Y@K compliant?

It is absolutely the responsibility of each individual company to make sure that any of their equipment is Y2k compliant. The vendors aren't coming to them - most equipment isn't bought or specified by the equipment manufacturer, anyway. A third party system architect or engineering firm typically specifies equipment, and actual purchase of the equipment is typically from a local or regional authorized distributor.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District tested their Itron devices to verify that TWO digits (yes, 00) would continue to be passed to their billing system. They did.

Now does this mean the devices are compliant? Depends on whether you are a vendor wanting to sell new "compliant" equipment, a utility requiring a four digit year, etc.

Note: During their August conference, some EPRI members were trying to get a focus group together to discuss ITRON issues. I don't know if they were successful.
