ADMIN NOTICE: PLEASE STICK TO TOPIC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photographers Communicating : One Thread

There have been a number of off topic posts here. Please stick to posts related to issues surrounding marketing, self-promotion and money-making ideas for professional photographers.

There are plenty of how-to forums on the web and in newsgroups, and questions of this nature should be directed towards them. They are not appropriate here.

Thank You, Mason Resnick, forum administrator

Maybe you should change the forum name from "Photographers Communicating" to "Photographers Making Money".

Not a bad idea...the goal of the forum is to help photographers market their photography and their business...and therefore to help them make more money!

There seems to be an implication among some of the responses I've had to my original post that there is something wrong with limiting the discussion to this topic, but I think the reverse is true. The beauty of the web is you can devote as much room as your server will allow to very specific topics. This is one of them, and perhaps "photographers.communicating" does not reflect the specific nature of the forum.

Anyone else have suggestions for a better name for this forum?

First off, let me thank you for providing this forum where the business side of photography can be discussed. Some people do seem to have a problem with the idea of making money with photography, and that's fine they shouldn't be in the photography business. There is certainly nothing wrong with photography as a hobby, but for those of us that do in fact want to market our photos, this is a great tool to have available.

Perhaps a new name would better indicate the reason you started this site. I don't know what it would be, but perhaps "Photograhpy Marketing" or something like that would be appropriate. Again thanks for the work you are putting into this fourm.

Hi Mason,

I popped in here to see what it was about and had no idea that marketing was the topic. The name should certainly be changed to include a term like business, promotion, marketing, selling or some similar term. BTW, I'm all in favor of profits!
