Developing TMAX with Ilfosol-S

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I only have one roll of TMAX to process and do not want to buy new chemicals just for it. Could someone tell me if I can use Ilfosol S and if so the dilution to use, time and general protocol to use. Also what sort of results to expect.

Thanx.

Hi. You can try T-MAX 100 in ILFOSOL-S dilution 1:9 for 8.5 min at 20C with agitation for 10 sec. every minute. For T-MAX 400 at the same conditions the time is 7.5 min. I haven,t tried this combination myself, since I mainly use ILFORD films ( the above is according to ILFORD technical information), but I,ve used ILFOSOL with DELTA-100 which is similar to T-MAX and results are not bad. You can expect slightly larger grain with ILFOSOL (still not visible on 24x30 cm print) with exellent sharpness and good tonal range. Good luck. Evgeni.
