Problems at the movies?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
We went to the movies this afternoon (2:45 P.M. 1/1/99) and noticed that the automatic ticket dispensing machines were dead. The people working there were sellintg tickets the old fashioned way from a roll of tickets in a drawer. It appeared that they must have been prepared for this ahead of time! Anyone have a clue about this?

Oh brother. I'm really going to enjoy lurking in this forum for the next few days...seeing what people blame on computers/1-1-99. "Hey Mabel, my knee went out on me. Do you suppose it's Y2K?"

Just ask -- a manager. Some glitches will be Y2K related, some won't. Notice. They have a back-up plan, and it works. They are open for business. This kind of "first hand" experience could bring the investigative reporter out in all of us.
