Get several people together to start having meetings. Contact as many people as you can. REach out to newpapers etc. Contact churches. Call business/govt as check on local y2k work. etc etc

The Utne Reader has published a terrific little handbook with plenty of community organizing tips and tools. I picked it up at the newstand for $4.95, or you can read it online here.

They will sell bulk copies (50+) at a buck a piece.
