Chevron & AT&T throwing in towel?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Rob M. mentioned this article. Any ideas how I can locate it? I went to Reuters but apparently didn't have all the info I need to find it.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I found it. I'm the pioneer in my family. In Maine one of the most important issues is staying warm when/if the power fails. Bought a wood stove, put food away, called the water/sewer dept. Found out the water and sewer can revert back to manual, the way it was run 150 years ago. The sewer dept. will dump directly into the river. Now we are planning to sell house in town and move to the country. The problem is no land here to farm. Although I like my present lifesyle I can read the writing on the wall.

Jay - Is that a discharge of UNtreated sewage (that would otherwise be treated?)? I wonder how much entirely avoidable environmental damage will be caused for failure of municipalities and citizens to responsibly prepare for foreseeable Y2K infrastructure disruptions. For those with a scant amount of land available for composting, I highly recommend The Humanure Handbook by JC Jenkins (available from Amazon.com) as a safe and benign alternative. Good luck in your preparations.
