halftone printing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : PosterShop Talk : One Thread

Anyone with experience of creating halftone separations on film media using Onyx 4 and an encad 50 pro. We want to print separations for screen printing. We would like to end up with seps approx. 18x24 at about 40lines per inch. 1. should we separate in photoshop and save bitmaps from channels? 2.Should we save the cmyk separations file out of photosohop and import it into postershop for halftone? 3.Is there a way to control the dots per inch in postershop? Many more questions any help much appreciated. Thanks To

sep's

OK, you have a number of things to worry about here. (1) The Pro-50 cannot really print a dense enough black to make a film posi. (2) The Pro-50 is not dimensionally accurate enough if you want to work with more than 2 films at the sizes you mentioned.

Actually printing the sep's is straight forward - if you want to use your own sreening, you can set and save this in Photoshop and then get Onyx to use this screening when printing seperations.

To help with the other issues, contact Noel at Graftec (uk), he has a special film and high density black ink for the pro-50 which will make this work better.

If you really want to know more about this contact me direct 01932 568555.
