Oxygen Absorbers/Storage Food

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Lumen Foods (soybean.com) now has buckets of high-quality TVP meals at reasonable prices, good for five years of storage. They've also added oxygen absorbers and superpails. Delivery time is currently four weeks. There's a wealth of good information about Y2K-related food storage at this site. The oxy absorbers are $112.50 for 1500 x 200cc and $175.00 for 1000 x 500cc. Would someone please tell me if these are good prices? Thanks.

Some absorbers (B) require moisture from food to work. Others (D) have their own moisture (D).

Bs last longer than Ds, but neither lasts very long - very poor shelf- life. If you buy that many, be ready to "use-em or lose-em"...

Old Git I bought from a co. called Royco. I only needed 50 oxy. abs. so I wasn't interested in their bulk prices. 50 - 750 cc. were $20. I get my bags and desiccants there too. Ususally receive an order in less than a week. Open M-F not sure of the hours. Call them and get bulk prices to compare with (1-888-645-7735).

I don't think I would even bother with a 200cc oxy. ab. Seems like you would just use them more quickly by having to throw more into each bucket.

FYI, I have no affiliation in the company other than being a pleased customer. Mary

i bought my oxygen absorbers from www.glitchproof.com. i ordered 150 500cc for 29.85 or 50 500cc at 9.95 a piece.

i was not sure how many i would need for my 8 gallon barrels so i emailed jim abel[glitchproof] and he calculated what size and how many i would need.

very courteous and quick delivery.......m
