Important thing to make sure happens....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Many are finding that Y2K "repairs" are not complete after verifying them by an independent testing entity. It is very important that we "encourage" the government entities to seek ***outside*** help when in comes to Y2K validation. Is there a way that we can make sure that this happens and that they truly have an outside review?

I agree. I've said repeatedly that, from and electric utilities standpoint, an independent audit of industry readiness needs to be conducted. This is true for all critical infrastructure industries and government agencies.

One suggestion is to write letters and make phone calls (not email) to your local congressional representatives (U.S.Senate and House)requesting such an independent audit. Point out that the UK government only thought it prudent to do so, because they saw through the obvious conflict of "self reporting". You can find an article on this topic in the euy2k.com newsroom.
