a thoughtful stop

I had to stop at a red light on the way to the grocery store tonight to buy a microwave pizza. As I sat at the light, next to a small town bank, I saw the sign. It said " We are Y2K ready !". I thought, great! How about your telco connections, the FED, your ATMs, The power grid, All the people with money at your bank. The RUNS on your bank ! When the light changed and I got to the store, I bought 40 more pounds of rice and 12 pounds of beans, as well as my microwave pizza. Am I nuts ? Is the world nuts ? Maybe I should have bought 100 pounds of rice. 20 lbs. $ 6.39. 12 month from now ?????????

If nothing becomes of Y2K, you can always donate the rice to soup kitchens along with a cookbook called "1001 Ways With Rice." You aren't crazy, just scared and paranoid.

How do I tell paranoia from real fear?

Two thoughts:

(1) Like all of us, you have only to wait approximately 320 days and the difference between the real and imagined threats will become clear...

(2) On a lighter note, remember Woody Allen's advice to paranoids: "About those people who are following you around - try to think of them as talent scouts."
