Just thought you'd all like to know that Canon has introduced some new equipment. You can check it out at http://www.eos-magazine.com

The EOS 300 looks like the Rebel G + DOF preview(!) + 7 point AF (instead of 3) + 35 segment (instead of 6) metering. X-sync still 1/90 and no mirror pre-fire. If it priced at about current Rebel G price it would be a very attractive package. I think the most important new feature is the DOF preview.Don't bother with the EOS 3000.

B&H is advertising the Rebel G for $239.95 and the Rebel 2000 for $259.95. Pretty close considering that one is brand new and the other obsolete.

I hardly think the Rebel G is obsolete. Film based cameras using older technology do not become useless like, say, personal computers. However, if I were in the market for an entry level camera I would buy the Rebel 2000.

I know it is common in this age of technological change to equate obsolete with useless, however that was not my intention. I meant 'not current'. The Rebel G is no longer the current model, and is (I assume) not in production. Given the improvements in the Rebel 2000, and the propensity of people to think a newer version is inherently better, a difference of 10% in the price is neglible.
