NRC Info on Computer-based Digital Systems in Nukests

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

FYI, A good place to get a sampling of the computer-based digital systems in nuclear power plants can be found in tables in an NRC document of listing deficiencies found in these systems. The url is: http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/REACTOR/DIGITAL/fail-dbr3.html

Also, a report on computer-based digital system failures in nuclear power plants from December 1996 to March 1997 can be found at: http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/REACTOR/DIGITAL/failure9.html

And as many of you know, links to information on all US nuclear plants can be found at: http://www.nrc.gov/AEOD/pib/states.html (be warned that this is dated information, and not very detailed. Plus, they pulled the best drawings a few years ago - fear of sabotage perhaps... The general information on the plant type/age, etc. is worthwhile though.)

FF,

Thanks for pointing folks to these documents - my book excerpts from all of the above.

There's another one that's particularly interesting for the "student" of regulatory issues, and it kind of speaks to some of the issues that NRC Chairman Jackson alluded to in her Ottawa presentation (ref: NRC Statements concerning Nukes thread).

Rick:

The URL: "http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/FEDWORLD/NRC-PDR/1997-246scy.html"
generated a 404 error at the site. A typo in the link? Or is the page gone?

Thanks for all your efforts.
