Forward engineering...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SQL Server Database Administration : One Thread

Eric,

I want to export the table structure from SQL Server 6.5 to ORACLE 7.3. I presume all we have to do is to reverse engineer and then to forward engineer. I had reverse engineered by setting ODBC Syntax in Generation option. FYI: I am using a tool called PowerDesigner Data Architect. Q. How should I forward engineer?

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Kothans.

Kothans,

My colleague Randy Rogers showed me this.

Presumably, having reverse engineered the database using PowerDesigner Data Architect, the SQL 6.5 Physical Model is now on your screen.

First, from the Database menu, select Change Target Database and then select the Oracle 7.3 option and complete the dialog.

Then, from the Database menu, select Generate Database.

Hope this helps,

Eric
